Product No. 7000: Ultimate Acrylic Topcoat

Product No. 7000 Ultimate Acrylic Topcoat is a Perma-Coat elastomeric roof coating. It’s an ultra-white formula, which means maximum reflectivity for a cooler roof. This premium grade coating also offers unbeatable protection from extreme weather, as it’s designed to resist cracking, peeling, and water damage.

When applied, our 100% acrylic topcoat creates a thick, rubber-like surface that acts like a flexible shield on the rooftop. It can expand and contract over 400% to accommodate a wide range of weather conditions. You can also expect excellent resistance to damage caused by ponding and standing water, since this coating is waterproof and mildew resistant!

Features

This Perma-Coat roof coating is designed for maximum adhesion strength as well as optimal elasticity to resist caking, cracking, and peeling—even in harsh weather conditions. In addition, this topcoat boasts bleed block technology to prevent yellowing and staining. It’s also been performance tested over all types of substrates, so you can always expect the highest level of protection possible. Extreme weather is no match for this high-performing coating!

Uses

Product No. 7000 Ultimate Acrylic Topcoat is one of our most versatile Perma-Coat roof coatings. It can be applied over mineral surface roofing, aged aluminum, tar, asphalt, or hot-applied-built-up roofing following application of our Product No. 210 Emulsion. For this type of application, seams and large cracks need to be reinforced with polyester fabric embedded into the emulsion prior to coating application. Alternatively, Product No. 7000 may be applied directly to the roof surface on most previously white-coated roofs. However, the roof will need to be in sound condition before a new layer of coating is applied.

We highly recommend Ultimate Acrylic Topcoat for EPDM roofs and any roofs that are subject to extreme moisture conditions. Areas where application is most beneficial include valleys, roof drains, low spots, and areas where ponding is especially common.

Application Tips

Do not apply Product No. 7000 to any surfaces containing silicone.

Before application, clean all surfaces free of dust, oil, granules, peeling paint, and other impurities. Pressure washing the roof surface is recommended. Spots of mold and mildew should be cleaned with a solution of bleach and water. Certain surfaces may require additional preparation. For example, rusty metal should be cleaned with a wire brush and primed with Product No. 101 Asphalt primer. Alternatively, polyurethane foam roofs will require priming with Product No. 295-G Surface Conditioner.

To apply Product No. 7000 Ultimate Acrylic Topcoat, stir in the container and apply with a soft bristle brush, broom, or nap roller. Spay application is also suitable—airless sprayer equipment with a minimum working pressure of 3000 PSI is compatible with this roof coating. You will find that coverage varies depending on the porosity of the surface as well as the roof pitch. We recommend applying two coats applied at right angles to the previous coat. This ensures optimal reflectivity and tensile strength. Be sure that the first coat is completely dry before the second coating is applied. Frequent rinsing with water will prevent buildup from accumulating on tools and brushes.

Dry time varies based on weather conditions and the application method—expect anywhere from 24-72 hours. Avoid applying Product No. 7000 in temperatures below 55°F. You should also wait to apply roof coating until rain and frost are not in the forecast for at least 24 hours following application. Limit foot traffic on the curing surface.
